Averasboro Fiber Festival |

Hello CABO members
An estimated 2,500 people attended the Averasboro Fiber Festival near Dunn, NC on Saturday, April 19. Your Board of Directors voted for CABO to be a sponsor at this second annual fiber festival on the grounds of the Averasboro Battleground Museum . Some of the benefits of CABO sponsoring the event is that all visitors to the Museum over the next year will see a very professional sign listing Carolina Alpaca Breeders and Owners as a sponsor of the Fiber Festival, which includes our website address! Because this Museum is near I-95, visitors come as they travel up and down the east coast all year long. We are told that folks take a photo of the sign which means they have a permanent record.
Heidi Kittrell and Connie Crawford of Celestine Ridge Alpacas and Cathy and Bill Knight of Kipling Pines Alpacas were vendors at this years Fiber Festival. A few other CABO members and new alpaca owners were in attendance. There were plenty of people interested in learning more about alpaca ownership. Even though the Knights brought some alpacas to display, the main draw of the crowd was the fiber! Several other vendors remarked that with the downturn of the economy, they were seeing more people interested in knitting and spinning than they have in the past. Maybe people are choosing to stay home, to make something constructive, and relax at the same time.
